This is a two-day conference devoted to "Promoting a Productive and Responsible Research Environment." It is being held at the Sheraton Grand Sacramento Hotel in Downtown Sacramento, CA.
Day I, "How to be an Effective Research Integrity Officer" will address relevant issues to the Research Integrity Officer (RIO). This day will respond to the needs of the RIO by providing interactive discussions on the proactive and reactive role of the RIO. The subjects range from preventing research misconduct and fostering a responsible conduct of research culture to the appropriate handling of allegations of research misconduct. The overall goal is to provide beginning and experienced RIOs with tools to effectively respond to the various research integrity issues existing at institutions.
Day II, "Navigating the Uncharted Waters of University and Industry Relations:
Conducting Research Responsibly" will be focused towards RIOs , administrators,
and researchers involved with issues of university-industry relations.
With the increase in university-industry research collaborations, there
is a critical need to address RCR issues.
Conference Objectives:
Participants will gain a greater awareness of the basic integrity and responsibility in research issues;
Participants will obtain specific tools to address responsibility issues and develop raining programs;
Participants will gain the knowledge necessary to recognize policy and practice deficiencies and will be able to prioritize steps for program improvements; and
Participants will gain specific knowledge and tools to effectively promote and manage new models for university-industry collaborations.
